How to use the Canon GL1 Digital Video Camera
Connecting Power:
• Pull the eye piece out, then tilt it up
• Lineup power plug and slide it down until it clicks
• To remove the plug, press the release button just under the eye piece, slid the plug up and out
Inserting a blank tape (power must be present but camera can be “Off”):
• Push the open lever up toward the front of the camera and at the same time pull the cover out from the
camera
• Push the green “Eject” button, the tape holder will come up and open
• Insert tape with the label facing away from the camera
• Push the tape holder in toward the camera but NOT DOWN
• The tape holder will go down on its own
• After the tape holder is down, close the cover
Hooking the camera up to a VCR for coping:
• Connect power to the camera (see above)
• Insert the tape you want to copy (see above)
• Connect the video out cable to the camera, under the flap on the back of the camera near the big red
record button
• Connect the other end of the video out cable to the input on the VCR
• Slide the power switch on the top of the camera back to “VCR”
• Turn on the VCR, insert blank VHS tape and set it to the input you plugged the camera into
• Open the flap on the top of the handle on the camera
• Press the “play” button on the camera and the “Record” button on the VCR
• When you are done press stop on both the camera and VCR, rewind the tapes
• Turn off the camera by moving the power switch to “Off”
• Eject the tape from the VCR and camera (see above)
• Turn off the VCR
• Disconnect the video out cable
